is it:- It is a fraud/crime that is done through many ways (like A.T.M, mobile WhatsApp, social
media platforms, SMS) with the help of
primarily Mobiles.
Where:- Mobile phone, (CHATS, SMS, VIDEO
CALLS, LINKS, etc…)
Impacts:- 1. Financial problems,
2. Mental Harassments,
3. Reputational risks,
4. Legal Consequences,
5. Social Pressure,..etc…
How:- In today’s
world your personal data is not safe anymore, whether you use a smartphone or
not. There are many news flash day today that XYZ system data has leaked or hacked and so on… (like
Government or private servers, any
institution servers, or third-party apps).
Many
Ways for Scams---

Identity theft:- Fake Profile/ Clone ID, ( Facebook, Instagram, etc...)

Recent cases:-
1. Unknown video calls- (WhatsApp/ phone/ any other social media)
You get a video call from an unknown number, and you don't know who it is He/She. If you pick up the call there might be a nude person on the opposite side. If you react quickly and cut the call, nevertheless you are trapped. After that, they will message you with screen recordings and start the blackmailing till you become totally weak both Mentally and financially.
✅Precautions:- Never pick up any unknown video calls, cut the call, and drop a message if there are any genuine or known ones they will reply with their identity.
If you pick up such calls incidentally, cover the front camera of your mobile so one can not see you from another side.
❓If you got trapped..?
- 1st be strong don't panic.
- Share the matter with your family/ guardians/ friends.
- Register your complaint with cyber police or the nearest cyber cell, and they will solve it.
2. Unknown SMS:- (Phone SMS /Whatsapp chat)
A message drops in your phone seems that you have ordered something or you got some gifts/cash/anything, whereas you have neither ordered anything nor applied for anything. if you click on these types of links your phone may be hacked and all your information will be in sharted. Furthermore, it will be used anywhere for scams, and you have to face financial loss too.
✅Precautions:- Do not click any links which are unknown. If you do not place any things/orders then why are you taking any SMS seriously.
Always remember that Nothing is free in today's world.
❓If you got trapped..?
-off your data,
- put the phone on flight mode/ remove the sim card,
- open your accounts on other devices,
- Reset your all passwords and backup all data,
- reboot your device,
_ register a complaint to the cyber cell.
3. UPI Fraud:- (Any payment apps- phone pay, Paytm, etc...)
Case 1- Someone calls or texts you that he sent some money extra or by mistake, and asks you to pay it back, you also get a customized SMS that you received $1234.00 amount in your account.
Case 2 - You get a link or request and washed to put your pin to received money,
✅Precautions:-
Case 1- Always check your account balance on these suspected moments, He may send you a fake SMS or screenshot, don't believe it until you have any amount in your account.
Case 2- UPI PIN is for only sending money, there is no need for any PIN or password for receiving money.
❓If you got trapped..?
1. Talk to the receiver to send it back.
2. Register a complaint with UPI customer care as soon as possible,.
3 register a complaint on National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
4. Calls- (WhatsApp/ phone/ any other social media)
Case 1- Number Spoofing- The caller will call you by the name of any Higher officials (police) or anyone known to you. They demand money for urgent needs or if they pretend to be other they tell you that your someone is in hospital or get arrested by police.
Case 2- fake customer care- Fraud calls of banks and asks for Otp for KYC.
✅Precautions:-
Case 1 - Call your known one whose name is used from another device and verify, if they didn't pick up the call, call someone near to them.
Case 2- Don't share the OTP or pin on calls.
Bank's never asked for these things on calls.
5. A.I :-
Deep Fake videos - It is a fake video or image created using artificial intelligence (AI) to make it appear as if you are doing or saying something you never did.
It is done with the help of pictures or videos available on your social media.
- Threat to viral or circulate in your contacts.
✅Precautions:-
Lock your social media accounts well.
don't accept or request unknown persons.
Don't share photos or videos publically or with an unknown.
❓If you got trapped..?
1- Don't trust any social media viral post blindly without cross-checks.
2- SHARE YOUR PROBLEMS WITH YOUR FAMILY AND COMPLAIN TO THE CYBER CELL, NOWADAYS AUTHORITIES WILL PUT DOWN THESE TYPES OF VIDEOS FROM THE NET.
3- Relatives and society should understand and stop trolling and sharing these things. It causes mental trauma that leads to death also.
Fake A.I voice:-
Get a call from the known voice for urgent help with money or anything.
✅Precautions:-
Always cross-check it by calling your known one directly.
6. Digital Arrest:-
A digital arrest is a type of cyber scam where fraudsters pose as law enforcement officers, claiming that the victim is involved in serious crimes such as money laundering or fraud. They simulate legal proceedings, often via video calls, and convince victims to transfer large sums of money to avoid arrest.
✅Precautions:-
Never pick up any unknown video calls.
❓If you got trapped..?
These are nonsense fraud, don't believe in this, if you don't do anything wrong nothing can harm you.
The court and police never any these types of online sessions without a prior notice letter in hardcopy.
OVERALL PRECAUTIONS:-
1-When you have not done anything then there is no need to be afraid.
2-Believe in yourself.
3-Share these issues with your loved one/ trustworthy.
4-Never trust on phone calls.
5-Always believe in real things, not virtual things.
*Mobile protection-
Update security apps.
On all the apps and Gmail for two-factor authentication.
Never charge your device in public charging ports, ( carry your own power bank)
Lock your device.
Don't share passwords with others,
Put net, wifi, and location off while not in use.
Never download apps outside the Play Store.
Never click on ads or links randomly.
Never share all details of our data in text from one app, always use diverse sources. (ATM details or any other details and OTP)
